Daniella Delay and the Choice That Never Happened (Decision Freeze Bug)
You hesitate because you fear making the wrong choice.
Daniella Delay was known for weighing every option—and choosing none of them.
When her team asked, “Which supplier should we go with?” She replied, “Let’s gather more data. ”
When a new hire needed direction, she said, “Let’s wait until we have more clarity.”
And when an opportunity landed on her desk, she’d stare at it, thinking, What if this isn’t the right move?
One day, Daniella’s boss walked into her office.
“Hey, I wanted your opinion on that deal we discussed last month,” she said.
Daniella hesitated. “I, uh… I was still analysing the risks.”
Her boss raised an eyebrow. “That’s a shame. They signed with someone else.”
Daniella’s stomach dropped.
Later that day, her teammate Sarah walked by. “Hey, I noticed you never chose a supplier, so I made the call. Hope that’s okay.”
She smiled, handed her the signed contract, and walked away—while Daniella sat there, stunned.
That night, she realised something: her indecision wasn’t keeping her safe —it was keeping her stuck.
The next morning, Daniella tried something new.
When her team asked for a decision, she gave herself 30 seconds to decide. No overthinking. No waiting .
“Let’s go with Option B.”
Her team nodded. The project moved forward .
And for the first time, Daniella felt lighter .
From that day on, she made a new rule: Done is better than perfect . Decide. Adapt. Keep moving.
Because leaders don’t always make the perfect choice—they make a choice and make it work.
