Why I Write

A raw, honest reflection on why I write: to wrestle lies, unlock truth, and offer freedom. One story, one soul, one Spirit-led word at a time.

Why I Write

Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when publishedI write to get free.
That’s the truth.

I write because I still hear the echoes of lies I swallowed long ago.
Lies that sounded like truth.
Lies that wore the voices of teachers, parents, pastors, peers.
Lies that slipped past my defences when I was too young to know better.
Too tired to fight.
Too desperate to belong.

I write to name those lies.
To expose them.
To drag them out from under the floorboards of my soul and lay them bare in the light.
Because if I don’t, they take root again.

I write to stay free.
Freedom isn’t a moment.
It’s a muscle.
And every time I choose truth over performance, honesty over polish, obedience over outcome,
I get stronger.

And when I write, something happens.
He comes close.
The Spirit guides my hand, and sometimes the words that spill out aren’t just for me.
They’re keys.
For someone else.
Someone who’s been living under a name that was never theirs.
Someone who’s stuck in a story they didn’t write.
Someone who’s ready to get out, but doesn’t know how.

But it doesn’t come easy.
I wrestle with the words.
Like Jacob by the river, I won’t let go until they bless me.
Because this isn’t just writing. It’s soul work.
The only time I’m fully alone with my thoughts and the Spirit.
We spar in silence.
I bring metaphors, memories, mental maps.
He brings light.
And together, we try to pin something true to the page.

So I write.
Not to rescue.
Not to impress.
Not to perform.
But to witness.

To freedom.
To the relentless mercy of God.
To the sacred, slow process of becoming whole.

This is my offering.
Not a brand.
Not a business.
Not a platform.

Just me.
An Unlocksmith.
Wrestling the words.
So the next soul can get free.
