My Yes is a Yes. My No is a No.
Integrity shines in clarity. Speak with truth, simplicity, and conviction.

I was once brought in to salvage a toxic stalemate between two critical leaders. One was a cocky, mid-twenties sales manager who believed he knew everything about the universe. The other was a boomer operations veteran who ruled the factory floor with an iron fist in a velvet glove. They were utterly incompatible. The young charm clashed violently with the old guard's rigid boundaries. One day, the veteran was a split second from cracking heads open. Buttons were pressed; tempers frayed; bad blood boiled. The general manager was desperate. I worked with them separately. Each blamed the other. Each had genuine grievances. Honestly, I did not care about their excuses. They were both hotheads. They were both entirely reactive.
I sat them down and mapped out the two loops operating inside the human brain. The default setting for every person on earth is to live 'at effect'. The environment, circumstances, and other people trigger a perceived threat. The brain floods the system with cortisol. The fight, flight, or freeze response takes over immediately . You cannot stop this initial chemical reaction; if you did not react to threats, you would not survive long. However, there is a half-second gap between the chemical trigger and your ensuing action. That tiny window is where true freedom lives. You can choose to override your natural, biological reaction. You can choose to move to the 'at cause' loop and engineer a deliberate response.
This requires a systematic override. We call it the PCPCR Framework. It is a 5-step cycle for personal decision-making.
You must discover "The Secret Power for the Pause". Just stop for a second and take a breath. Make it a deep, slow, satisfying belly breath. This physical action forces oxygen into the brain and breaks the cortisol circuit. Stop and reflect to prevent reactive decisions.
Understand the difference between being "At Cause vs. At Effect". Take ownership rather than blaming external factors. You must acknowledge that you are responsible for your response, regardless of who triggered the initial anger.
This is where the biological meets the spiritual. "Connect with Holy Spirit". Anchor the decision in faith. Invite Kingdom wisdom into that half-second gap before you speak or act.
A reactive brain sees a hundred chaotic possibilities. "Reduce Options". You must reduce decision paralysis. Select the single best, most prudent action that aligns with Kingdom principles.
Commit to "Journaling". People often resist this and worry about others reading their private thoughts. The truth is no one is interested in reading your journal. Do it anyway to create accountability and accelerate learning.
I told both of those battling managers the exact same thing. I challenged them to practice this protocol for just one week. Every time they caught themselves reacting and chose to Pause instead, they earned one point. The goal was ten points. If they hit ten, they could celebrate. They both took the deal. The transformation was not magic, but it certainly felt like magic. Their respective teams were astounded by the sudden calm. Both of their wives were utterly convinced a miracle had occurred. The old guard's wife even phoned me to verify I was not some young fancy distracting her husband. The protocol simply works.
Are you trapped in a reactive loop with a difficult colleague? Do not wait for an explosion. Deploy the PCPCR framework today. If you need to diagnose the structural flaws in your leadership approach, schedule a Reality Check Session with me. Reach out via email at [email protected] or send me a direct message to begin.
When marketplace pressure hits, your brain's threat detection system takes over. Your amygdala hijacks your prefrontal cortex, locking you into a biological fight or flight response. You stop leading and start reacting. You cannot outthink this biological loop; you must manually break it. The PCPCR Protocol is a tactical sequence designed to interrupt this physiological hijack. By learning to Pause, Calm, Process, Choose, and Respond, you force your nervous system to downregulate. This returns the control room of your mind to the True King and allows you to lead with intentional grace instead of primal fear.
