You Were Never Not Enough | What's Better Today?
Stop. Take one deep breath. Great job. Now keep reading.

You were never not enough.

Not when you got the job. Not when you lost it. Not when the promotion went to someone else. Not when the marriage broke. Not when the church disappointed you. Not when the business failed. Not when you looked in the mirror at 2am and could not recognise the person looking back.

You were never not enough. That was always a lie.

And you were never not loved. That was the other one.

Two lies. That is all it took. Believed early enough, completely enough, and never examined closely enough to see what they actually were.

This page is for the person who is done pretending those lies are true.

The two lies behind everything

They were not delivered in a boardroom. They were delivered at a dinner table. In a classroom. In a car on the way home from a sports match. In a look that lasted half a second. In the silence where a word of affirmation should have been.

The person who delivered them was probably not trying to wound you. They were an image bearer too. Carrying their own version of the same lies. Doing the best they could with the formation they had received.

But the lies landed. And they have been running ever since.

Lie One You are not enough.

So you perform. You prove. You grind past midnight. You deliver more than asked. You take the call you should not have taken. You achieve the thing and feel nothing because the feeling of enough never comes. It never came because the lie was never true. The not enough verdict was overturned before you drew your first breath. You just were not told.

Lie Two You are not loved.

So you please. You manage everyone's feelings before your own. You cannot disappoint. You say yes when every cell in your body says no. You absorb the anxiety of difficult people because somewhere you learned that love was conditional on keeping others comfortable. The love was never conditional. The source of it has no conditions. You just were not told.

Every burnout traces back to one of these two lies. Every people pleasing strategy. Every performance addiction. Every hollow success. Every 2am ceiling stare wondering why the thing you worked so hard for does not feel the way you were told it would feel.

The system you are exhausted by was never designed to produce what you are hungry for. It was designed to exploit the two lies. And it is very good at its job.

The corporate world did not invent the not enough wound. It found it and built a productivity system on top of it. It sells you the next achievement as the cure for the not enough feeling. The cure never works because the wound is not a deficit of achievement. You could fill every line of your CV and the wound would still be there in the morning.

The not loved wound gets monetised differently. It gets you to perform for belonging. To manage your appearance in the room. To stay late not because the work needs it but because leaving early might mean someone thinks less of you. And you cannot risk that. Because you are still the child at the dinner table trying not to take up too much space.

This is not weakness. This is what formation by the wrong system does to a capable person over time. You were formed into this. You can be formed out of it.

What is actually true

You were made in the image of God.
Before any performance.
Before any achievement.
Before any striving.

That identity was not something to be earned. It was the starting condition. The lie only ever had one job: to make you forget it.

A detail most people miss

The tree was always in the centre.

In the oldest story, the Tree of Life was placed in the middle of the garden. Not at the edge. Not behind a wall of performance. In the centre. Within reach.

The enemy did not move the tree. He only moved the attention. He redirected focus so completely, so continuously, that the thing always in the centre became invisible. And the other tree, the one that demanded something, the one that promised you could be more through what you acquired, became the one everything orbited.

That misdirection has been running in human experience ever since. The system you are exhausted by is its most efficient modern form.

The Tree of Life did not move. The living waters are still flowing. The source is not absent from your Monday morning. Your attention has simply been so thoroughly occupied elsewhere that it has become functionally invisible.

Nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God.

Romans 8:39

Not your failure. Not your worst season. Not the version of you the system built. Not the thing you did that you have never told anyone. Not the distance you feel right now between yourself and anything that feels holy.

Nothing.

For the burned

If the church burned you, you are not alone and you are not wrong to feel the burn. An institution that pointed imperfectly at something real is not the same as the thing it was pointing at. The Architect is not the building. He is not the sermon that landed badly. He is not the community that failed to show up. He was in the room when those things happened. He was not the cause of them.

If striving burned you, the exhaustion is diagnostic not punitive. It is telling you something precise: the fuel source was wrong. You were running borrowed fuel in a system that was never designed to produce what you were hungry for. The emptiness is not a verdict on your worth. It is evidence that the thing you were chasing was never going to deliver what it promised.

If your own choices burned you, the shame is not the final word. The thing the enemy uses to keep burned people away from the source of healing is the lie that the wound is disqualifying. It is not. The source of love has no waiting room for people who have earned the right to approach. That too would be a performance requirement. There are none.

The wound is not the verdict. It is the location where the healing begins.

The glimpse

This page is not asking you to return to anything that burned you. It is not asking you to perform for acceptance or to believe a list of propositions or to attend something.

It is asking you to consider one thing.

What if the tree was still in the centre? What if the source of the love the not loved wound has been aching for was not behind a wall of religious performance but within reach right now, in the middle of your actual life, available to the version of you that exists at this precise moment, before any improvement programme, before any rehabilitation of the self?

What if the not enough lie dissolved not when you achieved enough but when you received the identity that was always yours before the striving began?

That is not optimism. That is the oldest and most precise account of what human beings are and what has been done to restore them to it.

You do not need to resolve it today. You only need the glimpse.

If that glimpse has landed and you want to go further, there is a complete formation system built for exactly the person this page was written for. The burned. The hollow. The capable and exhausted. The soul hungry misfit who knows something is structurally wrong and has stopped blaming themselves for it.

It starts with six episodes. Free. No performance required to access them. The only requirement is that you are done pretending the lies are true.

The next step

Send me the tools to overcome the burnout and rebuild from the inside out.
